Safe Environment Training

The Archdiocese of OKC requires anyone in the parish who has regular contact with youth (under the age of 18) to undergo the Safe Environment program before being allowed to help with our young people. This program is to help prevent any incidents of abuse in our parish and at any of our parish events. It will also allow us all to be aware of characteristics of abuse in children and predators so we may hopefully prevent further abuse in our larger community.

At St. Mark Parish we are asking all those in any of the following ministries to complete this program.

  • Catechists
  • Catechist Aides
  • Substitutes
  • Nursery workers
  • Youth Group Helpers
  • Parent volunteers
  • Drivers
  • Chaperones
  • Eucharistic Ministers
  • Ushers
  • Choir Members
  • Boy Scout Helpers
  • Confirmation Sponsors

In order to provide a safe environment for our young people, the Archdiocesan guidelines call for these individuals to complete the four steps outlined below.

  1. Complete the written Application for Employment or Volunteer Services which will remain on file at St. Mark.
  2. Complete the Online Background Check. You may complete this background check at no cost to you. To register with the site, you will need to supply an access code. Please contact the St. Mark Safe Environment Coordinator, Lori Hoehner, for this code. After you have completed all of the sections, make certain to select St. Mark as the site for the delivery of your results so that your information will be on file in our database.
  3. Read and sign an agreement to abide by the Code of Conduct which will remain on file at St. Mark.
  4. Attend a Safe Environment Training seminar at St. Mark.

The next Safe Environment Training seminars will be held:
